Description
Professor E. Bruce Glenn served the Academy of the New Church – and institution comprised of Secondary Schools and College, whose educational practices are based on the philosophical and theological writings of Emanuel Swedenborg – for forty-six years, both in the classroom and in various administrative offices. He believed that the true capital of a school was in the love, energy, and time given to it by its teachers. In this spirit Bruce Glenn will be remembered by many of his students as an energetic and dedicated teacher, a lover of his subject – English language and literature. He is remembered by his colleagues as a man fortunate enough to unite his vocation and his avocation.
This collection brings together into one volume the papers and addresses on New Church education which were written and spoken during the years of Bruce Glenn’s engagement with that work at the Academy. The pages of this book contain at least some part of his vision in the realm of ideas, his insights into truly New Church education, into research, into what it is to be a professional New Church teacher. He had a keen appreciation for the importance of the Academy and the development of truly New Church scholarship. This book clearly documents his vision and his passion, the development of which remain a key ingredient to the creation of a New Church University.
